METOP :Metop is a series of three polar orbiting meteorological satellites which form the space segment component of the overall EUMETSAT Polar System.
METOP/AVHRR-A :The Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR), on board the METOP-A satellite. It is a broad-band, four or five channel (depending on the model) scanner, sensing in the visible, near-infrared, and thermal infrared portions of the electromagnetic spectrum.
